5 Warning Signs You Need to Replace Your Old PC

Personal computers are prone to the ravages of use just like any other machine. Even though some computers may be holding up fine mechanically, they can become obsolete as the Internet and software packages become too hardware intensive to handle. Here are five signs your PC needs to be put out to pasture.

1. Internet Use Becomes Slow

While your machine may still be in good working condition, the Internet itself is constantly growing and can become too hardware intensive for your processor to handle the amount of information streaming through it. When this is the case, consider retiring your computer for dedicated use as a word processor, or music player.

2. The Latest Software is Incompatible

If you like to play video games, or if you’re an artist and want to use the latest version of Adobe Photoshop, you may need a beefier computer to handle the most recent updates to these kinds of software packages.

3. Outdated Cable Ports

It can be a major aggravation if your machine is still mostly serviceable- but like everything else in the world of information tech, cables are often made obsolete, leaving old cables the stuff of cellars.

4. Memory Running Low

Many people save photos and never want to get rid of them- and of course- videos are an increasingly common way people store memories. If your computer is running out of room to store files you don’t want to get rid of, you need more space. There’s no way around it.

5. Weird Noises

If the inside of your PC is so filled with dust that the fan strains to move, it may be time for a cleaning. This could also mean the internal components are on their last legs. If your hard drive makes more noise than it used to, it may mean your computer is about to crash permanently. You should backup your data and replace your computer before the unthinkable happens.
